Kung Fu Panda 2
Crowd Developer
Dreamworks had decided to retire their in house crowd software and to replace it with Massive. KFP2 was the first show that pipeline was developed for. The initial version of the pipeline needed some refinement when I came on board and I was fortunate to be able to work closely with the department TD to help build the Massive pipeline into rock solid foundation for the project.
Over the course of the project, I developed workflows and development best practices to standardise our “digital marionette” brain building pipeline. The requirements were to leverage Massive’s powerful proceedural animation tools but still give the artists the tools they needed for more linear crowd performances.
Show Responsibilities
- Responsible for building 6 different agents all with distinct personalities for proceedural and manual simulations.
- Managed cycle animation requirements for the project including running motion capture shoots and action design.
- Technical lead on final battle sequence.
